Catherine Wong, Campus Recruiter - Central Canada
My name is Catherine Wong and I am the new campus recruiter for Central Canada for Ernst & Young. I graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Arts Accountancy degree in 2005 and Masters of Accounting in 2006. Shortly after graduation, I returned back to Ernst & Young LLP, where I was a co-op student and within a few short years, I was promoted to Manager of Assurance in Retail, Distribution and Manufacturing.
As an assurance manager, I had many exciting opportunities including helping my clients with million-dollar prospectuses, capital acquisitions, client pursuits and sales. More recently, I took advantage of a sabbatical program at Ernst & Young and returned to the University of Waterloo to teach a first year accounting course as an adjunct professor to over 200 students. I also taught Introduction to Audit at the Wilfred Laurier University and worked with the CMA and ICAO to develop teaching materials.
Now as campus recruiter, I have a very dynamic job which changes everyday! I also get the opportunity to expand my networks within the firm and work with many of our client-serving recruiters. This past summer, I attended the International Intern Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida! Using our 4-day long weekend at the Firm, I was able to fly in a little earlier and check out Harry Potter World along with Disney World!
Outside of work, I am involved with the United Way of Peel and am an avid volleyball player. I am also a passionate traveller. I’ve swam with penguins and turtles in the Galapagos Islands, climbed Machu Picchu, explored the pyramids of Egypt, fished for piranhas in the Amazon and snorkelled the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
I am really excited to be the new campus recruiter for UT Mississauga and look forward to meeting you!
