Frequently Asked Questions
What is BizFrosh?
BizFrosh is the biggest Commerce/Management orientation event held at the University of Toronto Mississauga. In previous years, BizFrosh was a 2-day event held at Camp Muskoka with an overnight stay; this year, BizFrosh has been revamped to a 1-day event with tree trekking and more outdoor activities at the Bruce Mill Conservation Area.
Who can attend BizFrosh?
Students in any year, regardless of program, may attend.
Why should I attend?
The purpose of Bizfrosh is to meet other students in the Commerce/Management program in an informal setting. The teams will also be led by upper year Commerce and Management students, which makes it a great event to start networking and building relationships with mentors.
What makes BizFrosh different from O-Week or UTMSU orientation?
O-Week focuses on the academic aspect of transitioning into university and is organized by the University. The UTMSU orientation is organized by the Students’ Union and is held between the three U of T campuses. BizFrosh is organized by the Undergraduate Commerce Society and is targeted towards students in the Commerce and Management programs and held at the Bruce Mill Conservation Area.
What will we be doing during the day-trip?
The full itinerary for the Bruce Mills day-trip can be found above. The day will be packed with team-building activities, an academic session, as well as many opportunities for you to enjoy the nature while making lasting friendships.
I have allergies/dietary needs. What should I do?
Food and transportation are included in the price of the Bruce Mills day-trip ticket. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, PLEASE indicate so to Ashna Behl at email@example.com as soon as you buy your ticket. We will accommodate all dietary restrictions or allergies to the best of our abilities.
I don’t like to party, is BizFrosh still worth attending?
BizFrosh is worth attending even if you are not a big party person. There are activities throughout the day that accommodate to everyone, even if you are shy or not comfortable with big crowds. The Leaders and House Captains are trained to provide an inclusive environment for all attendees!
I’m new to Canada and I don’t know anyone at UTM. Is BizFrosh for me?
Yes, BizFrosh is a great way for you to meet friends from your program no matter where you are from. We encourage everyone to attend as you will not only meet friends from your home country, but also friends from your home for the next 4(ish) years.
What is the Undergraduate Commerce Society? Who is planning this event?
The Undergraduate Commerce Society (UCS) is the largest academic society at the University of Toronto Mississauga which provides value-added events and opportunities catered to students in the Commerce program at UTM. UCS is a non-profit organization run by student leaders in an array of programs who are dedicated to not only providing students with a variety of academic (accounting, finance, marketing) events, but also social events throughout the school year. For more information about us, please visit utmucs.ca. BizFrosh has been a staple social event of UCS since it was founded and the restructuring of the event this year allows for attendees to be a part of our continued legacy!
Are any of the BizFrosh events mandatory?
We encourage students to attend all scheduled events since they were designed to provide the best experience while at the Elora Gorge. If you do not feel comfortable with attending any of the events, speak with a Leader or a House Captain, we are all here for you!
